WEB DESIGN: BASICS
Assignment 2 • Links to the states!
- Download and save the file states.txt as an HTML file (states.html). Don't forget the <HTML> tags.
- Create an alphabet link at the top of the page so that when some clicks on O (for example), it brings them down to the beginning of the O states (Ohio is the first O state). For example: A-B-C-D-E-....
- Provide a link to each state's web site and make it so that the link opens a new browser window/tab. The standard for state government web site addresses is: www.state.??.us where the ?? is the two-letter appreviation for the state.
For example, Oregon's URL would be www.state.or.us.
Many states also have a ".gov" domain as well; for example: oregon.gov
- After the list of states, add a link to the White House web site: www.whitehouse.gov. When you click on it, it should open up a new window.
- On the next line, put in a link called "top" that takes you to the top of the page (see the bottom of this page).
- Put your name at the bottom of the page and make it a link so that when it's clicked it brings up an email tool (this depends on which email tool is the default for your machine. Sometimes it's Outlook Express.)
Extra Practice
- Create a new page, declaration.html, that will provide links to the
amendments page you made from assignment 1 and a link to the declaration of independence at:
www.archives.gov/national_archives_experience/declaration.html
- At the bottom of the "amendments" page, put in a link to your "states page". On your "states" page link back to the "amendments" page.
